Association Inauguration 2014-15

Inauguration of Zoology Association for the Academic year 2014-15 was done by Shri. Satheesh Kumar K.K., Joint Director of Fisheries & Director of NIFAM (National Institute of Fisheries Administration and Management), ALUVA on 27th September 2014 and deliver a talk on “Methods in Aquaculture”

As a tribute to Dr. Salim Ali, Department of Zoology organized a programme - ‘Question of the Day’ contest on 12th November, (National Bird Watching Day) and Bithin Babu, 1st semester; Mathematics was selected as the winner.

Ozone day celebration

Zoology Association conducted an awareness programme in connection with ozone day on 16^th September 2014. Association organized an invited talk on the focal theme of the year 2014 ‘Ozone layer protection: The mission goes on’ by Dr. P. I. Kuriakose, HOD, Department of Physics, St. Peter’s college, Kolenchery. Students designed and exhibited posters/placards depicting the effects of Ozone depletion on the environment and the importance of protecting the Ozone layer.

‘Suvarnajayanthi Fellowship’

‘Suvarnajayanthi Fellowship’ is instituted by Dr. George P. Abraham a famous Urologist and an eminent alumni of the Department of Zoology, for the best 3rd year student of B.Sc. Zoology. Dr. George P. Abraham handed over the ‘Suvarnajayanthi fellowship’ fund to Mrs. Saramma M. Mathew, Head of the department of Zoology. The interest earned on this fund will be used to give fellowship every year.
